Wide Spaces and Narrow Paths: Finding Freedom in a Confined World

A Vision of Freedom I n the Bible, space is never just physical. It is symbolic, shaping how freedom, guidance, and human flourishing are understood. Scripture speaks of wide spaces and narrow paths to describe w hat it means to live well under God’s care. Wide, open spaces often represent freedom and liberation. In Psalm 18:19, God brings the psalmist into a “spacious place,” an image of rescue and relief. Psalm 119:45 echoes this, linking freedom with walking in God’s ways. Spaciousness here is not excess, but release—room to breathe again.
